The Rams will open up at home against the Wellington Saints on March 23rd at Cowles Stadium.  The Rams and Saints rivalry is the most fierce in the NBL with both teams having won a combined 13 NBL Championships between them since the league began in 1982.  The teams will be playing for the Huntley – Gordon Trophy (Clyde Huntley & Gilbert Gordon played for both the Rams & Saints).  The matchup will also see Rams coach Mark Dickel & Saints coach Kevin Braswell pitted against each other.  Both coaches are considered two of the best guards to ever play in New Zealand with Mark Dickel representing the Tall Blacks in the Olympics and leading New Zealand to the 4th place finish at the 2002 World Championships and Kevin Braswell being a star guard for the New Zealand Breakers.  Another game to mark on your calendar will be when the James Blond Supercity Rangers come into town on the 31st of March, this will see a re-match of last years NBL semi-final matchup.  The Rams final home game will be against the Nelson Giants on the 8th of June, this game promises to have playoff ramifications.
