This summer the Rams are running their inaugural Rams Summer League on Tuesday nights from 8pm – 10pm at Action Indoor Sports Hornby. The Summer league will involve some of Christchurch best talent as well as up and coming talent from around the region.

The league is made up of 4 teams who will play each other in a round robin before the finals round. Each team has been sponsored by a Christchurch Restaurant. The teams will be coached by Rams assistant coaches Ben Sheat & Piet Van Hasselt.

The league has been created for a range of different reasons. Firstly, with a Rams summer squad being created at the end of the league it’s a great chance for players to be watched and give them a chance to impress Rams head coach Mark Dickel who will be involved in the league as a selector with the other coaches. Secondly, exposing some of the city’s up and coming talent to some of the strongest older talent is another goal of the league.

Get down to Hornby on Tuesday and see some of Canterbury’s best talent. First games are this Tuesday, 8pm – 10pm at Action Indoor Sports Hornby. Full league draw will be released on Monday.

The Lone Star
This team is led by Rams Captain Marques Whippy. Marques will need to play a large role on this team with a young core. Two guards who played for the Rams in 2017 Derek Albertson and Ben Williams will play a large role in backing up Whippy and providing some much-needed scoring punch. With the toughness of Aled Jones at the point to add to an abundance of talent this team will be tough over the 4 week league.
