Tomorrow night, the first round of the Canterbury Rams Summer League tip-off at Action Indoor Sports, Hornby.

We have two great match-ups first week up, with The Fitz Sports Bar going up against Lone Star at 8pm, and straight after that game, Joe’s Garage going head-to-head with the Fox and Ferret Riccarton.

The Fitz v Lone Star – 8pm, Hornby Action Indoor

The Fitz will have a tough one first up going up against some tough competition in their first game. However, they have some great talents on their team as well. Taylor Britt and Nick Erwood  will led this team with good depth going into tomorrow night’s game.

Canterbury Rams captain Marques Whippy will lead Team Lone Star, alongside some young talent, such as guard Derek Albertson who will also be one to look out for.

It’ll be tough for one for the Fitz, as they may struggle to slow down the dangerous Whippy. Look for him to dominate down low in this one, to guide his team to victory.

Joe’s Garage v Fox and Ferret Riccarton – 9pm, Hornby Action Indoor

Joe’s Garage are led by Canterbury Rams player Tony Tolovae, Tolovae will provide scoring and rebounding on both ends of the floor. He’ll be a tough man to stop for the young Fox and Ferret Riccarton side. He’ll be ably assisted by Josh Petermann, who’s come off a good year with the University of Canterbury.

The Fox and Ferret are filled with an abundance of young talent with some experience sprinkled in. The experience of Marty Davison will led this young into their first game. Max De Geest and Maxwell Darling played well for Christ’s College at this year’s Secondary School nationals, both making the tournament team. The dynamic duo will also have TCU commit Angus McWilliam alongside them. Although they are a young squad, don’t write them off.

This game will be a test for the inexperienced young guns, as they will need to stop two very dangerous players in Tony Tolovae and Josh Petermann. It’s a tough one to call, but with the experience of Tolovae, Joe’s Garage should take this one out.

Make sure you head along to Action Indoor Sports in Hornby to see the future players of the Canterbury Rams battling it out on the Hardwood.
