BACK WITH A VENGEANCE RAMS STORM BACK WITH A VENGEANCE
The Canterbury Rams Fans left the Westpac
Centre with a smile on their faces with the team picking up their first
win of the season, 89-81. While the match was turnover-ridded there
were hints of excitement with a dramatic comeback and accurate long-range
bombing from the visitors. The Rams turned a 40-48 half-time deficit
into a 67-57 lead with two minutes to play in the third. Veteran
forward Andrew Gardiner had an excellent game with 21 points and seven
rebounds on 8/11 shooting. Rams forward Mike Pegues led from the
front with 32 points and a massive 11 rebounds. Kings forward Brad
Riley had some excellent knifing drives to the hoop and was able to
penetrate the Rams defence on his way to 19 points. Lance Baker backed up
last night's hot shooting with 21 points including five three-pointers.
Dave Langrell was instrumental in the Rams third quarter comeback draining
a pair of long-bombs and pumping up the crowd. Langrell finished the
game with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds and also dished out
five assists. Gardiner made sure the Rams would stay in front for
