with a Thesis on: "Sport Marketing and the Internet : in what ways does the web site contribute to marketing and management in sport organisations"


Piet is a self-confessed 'basketball-junkie' and has been involved wih the Rams organisation as a volunteer over the past 7 seasons. Piet created and launched "RAMPAGES" mid-way through the 1999 season and has maintained & designed all the information on the web site since.

Piet was a member of the scorebench crew (1996-97) and a TV statisitican (1998-99) - working with Bob Manthei, John Watson and Terry Brunel. Over the years he has contributed over hundreds of hours as the Public Relations Manager, Court Controller, Game Entertainment Manager, Webmaster of Rampages, Team Publications editor and designer (Team Guide and Programme), Rams Fans E-mail list manager, Summer Clinic 2001 Director and manager of the BSMS.

Piet worked as a member of the world media at the 2002 World Basketball Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana : USA, where the Tall Blacks placed an historic fourth against the world superpowers. This included producing daily reports to the Rams Fans E-mail list, which can be found on Rampages.

Duruing the off-season, Piet enjoys travelling and attending world sport events including seven NBA games, the USA@AUS Challenge in Melbourne, Australian Tennis Open, and the World Basketball Championships.

He has also refereed all levels of basketball in Christchurch including the Women's national league and a preseason Men's national league level game.

His ambition is to pursue a career in a professional sport organisation.
