On
behalf of the Canterbury Rams players and management,
welcome to the 2002 season. This season promises to be
exciting with a new attitude and a group of hungry
players keen to bring the Rams back to the top of the
NBL.
The
Rams must firstly acknowledge the support of our new
naming rights sponsor, Scenic Circle Hotels.
The nationwide hotel chain have been involved with the
Rams for a number of years and have stepped into the
Naming Rights Sponsorship role. Scenic Circle
Hotels make all of our initiatives possible and
we thank them for their assistance.
The Rams are also delighted to have a group of other
sponsors whose assistance is invaluable: University
of Canterbury, Christchurch City Council, 92 MORE FM,
Scottwood Group, Canterbury Foundation, NCC New Zealand,
Canterbury Draught, CTV, And 1, The Press, Kiwicar Car
Rentals, Coca Cola, The Document Company - Fuji-Xerox,
Taylors Master Valet, Montana Wines and Lightworkx.
The Rams also acknowledge the support of NBL’s
sponsors Burger King, TVNZ and Spalding.
In 2001 the Rams led the NBL in attendance
for the second straight season, proving we have the best
fans and supporters in the country. Special thanks to all
season ticket holders, our most loyal fans.
We believe that Rams games offer the best
‘value for money’ entertainment in
Canterbury and will continue to build on the successful
game night package introduced in 2000. The NBL awarded
the inaugural Game Presentation Award to the Rams last
season.
The WestpacTrust Centre is an
unparalleled venue in NZ and offers the best facilities
for watching sport.
A group of individuals that must be recognized is our
dedicated, outstanding group of game night volunteers. Some of these people have
been involved with basketball for over 20 years and give
their time for ‘the love of the game’ and the
Rams.
The Rams Management Team all dedicate many hours to
ensure that the Rams organisation can introduce new
initiatives and run as smoothly as possible.
In 2001 the Rams established the Rambo Charitable
Trust to utilise the public profile of Rams
players for social benefit, presenting them as positive
role models and contemporary messengers to youth and
families. The Trust has Donee status and welcomes
tax–deductible donations from Canterbury businesses
and individuals to support our programmes. The Rambo
Charitable Trust is thankful for the support of: University
of Canterbury, Canterbury Foundation, Scottwood Group,
and the Christchurch City Council.
This season also marks the 10 year anniversary
of the Rams 1992 NBL Championship.
A feast of live basketball will be on
TVOne Saturdays at 3:30pm including two Rams home games:
vs Titans and vs Giants.
This season we hope to continue to set attendance records
and with your support we can be part of history.
